Disabled StairLift

Some Folks Call Them a "Disabled Stair Lift"...

Although stair lifts are not commonly called elderly or disabled stair lift, these mobility aides are ideal for helping the disabled and or senior citizens retain their independence and self-worth.

No one wants to be completely dependent on others to get around, especially seniors who are used to getting things done themselves.

One of the major causes of depression in seniors results from major changes late in life.

One such change is the relocation from their familiar surroundings, which in many instances occur because they are unable to move around safely in their multi-story homes.

Family members often feel that the best way to protect those with reduced mobility who live in multi level homes where they have to use stairs is relocation…but this doesn't have to be true if a stair lift system is installed.

Navigate Stairs Easily with StairLift

Stair lifts to help seniors navigate stairs easily are sometimes referred to as elderly stair lifts. These devices are chairs that are affixed to the rail of a staircase and use a track to go up and down the stairs with the passenger seated comfortable on it.

Oh, you can't sit easily because you have problems with your hips and bending?  Not to worry for there are stair lifts for you as well. The standing or perch lift is perfect for persons who have difficulty sitting. Some manufacturers make their standing /perch stair lifts so that they are easily adjustable.  That means that persons of varying heights can use them with ease.

Although not technically a stair lift, Ameriglide's vertical platform lift is ideal for getting from one outdoor level to another for seniors with mobility problems.

These chairs are built for comfort and ease of movement.  Their design is such that they stop and start smoothly, especially if a rack and pinion system is used. With some makes of elderly stair lifts you even have a choice of chair speed.  Ask for it when the equipment is installed.

Elderly StairLift Safety

Safety features ensure that users as well as others who use the stairs are kept safe from injuries. Disabled stair lifts are equipped with seatbelts and obstruction sensors. Seat belts ensure that the rider does not accidentally slip out of a moving chair.

This security feature is especially important for the elderly and the disabled whose reflexes may be slow. Obstruction sensors allow the chair lifts to stop if it senses that something on the stairs is in the way.

Most wheelchair stair lifts have a weight capacity of up to five hundred pounds although lifts that can manage weights of up to seven hundred pounds are available.

Standard elderly stair lift chairs can hold a person weighing up to three hundred and fifty pounds. Stairlifts with a higher weight capacity are also available.

Stair lifts, whether they are used by the elderly or the disabled, comes with rechargeable batteries to ensure that you have power to move with or without electricity.

Some manufacturers, taking into consideration that their equipment is used by seniors or persons with limited mobility, make certain that the backup batteries can recharge automatically.

All stair lift chairs come with warranty and parts and service, even recycled stair lifts for the disabled. Some even have life time warranty on some parts which is an indication of the faith they have in the quality of their product.
