Stair Lifts for Rent? 

Some stair lift manufacturers also rent residential stair chair lifts on a long term or short term basis; however, stair lifts for rent are normally those that work on a straight stair case since these are easier to install.

Other manufacturers will rent a stair lift chair if your stair way has slight curves; it is more difficult to rent stairlifts for elaborate staircases.  Rental of a residential stair chair lift may be the best option if you are planning to relocate shortly or you do not wish to invest in full ownership.

There are two main categories of stair lifts, the residential stair chair lift and the commercial stair chair lift. Both serve the same purpose, making life easier for those who have difficulty climbing stairs to access facilities on another floor.

Residential stair chair lifts can either be battery powered or electrically powered, but those that are operated by electricity tend to also have backup battery power in case of electricity disruption. Stair chair lifts that operate on battery power are referred to as DC-powered stairlifts.  The chairs that use electricity as their main power source are called AC-powered.

Best of all, both AC and DC powered residential stair lifts have backup power, so you can always use your lift without worry.  AC-powered residential chairs are designed so that they can be plugged directly into any available household outlet.

Stair Lift Safety Features

Residential stair lifts have seats that swivel so that the user can mount or dismount as is convenient for them. The AmeriGlide stair lifts have seats that can swivel one hundred and eighty degrees (180 degrees).  Stair lift seats are built so that the unit will not move unless the seat is firmly locked in place. Other safety features include seatbelts and motion sensors.

Stair lifts for home use are made so that they take up as little space as possible without sacrificing safety. Many have arm rests and foot rests that can be folded out of the way when not being used. 

Special residential equipment can also be installed outside the home if there is an outside stair way. These are generally made of weather-resistant material to withstand the elements. They have the same safety features as the indoor models.

These stair lift chairs are easy to use as they do not require any elaborate maneuvering by the rider. It's simply a matter of sitting pressing your remote control or joystick and you are on your way.
